Rigid foams

Rigid foams

With my experience in application development for PUR/PIR lamination boards and rigid slabstock, I can support you to optimize your formulation: polyols, isocyanates, NCO index, catalysis, etc.

Flammability

Flammability

Besides heading an industry expert group for flame retardancy I was involved in projects, e.g., on halogene free flame retardants, expandable graphite, and innovative routes for flame retardancy, especially for rigid and flexible foams.

Nanocellular materials

Nanocellular materials

I was involved into several projects aiming to nanocellular PUR foams, reduction of cell size, and understanding nucleation and cell formation. Perhaps, I can help you to optimize your foam cell structure.

Monte-Carlo simulations

Monte-Carlo simulations

Monte Carlo (MC) methods are a broad class of computational algorithms that use randomness to determine chemical composition of polymers. They can be useful when it is difficult or costly to use analytic methods.

NCO-prepolymers

NCO-prepolymers

can easily be investigated by MC without synthesis. The simulation results (typically a list of all molecules formed) allow the calculation of monomer content, molecular weight distribution, functionality, isomer ratio, etc.

Polyester polyols

Polyester polyols

can easily be investigated by MC without synthesis. The results show, e.g., if the polyester polyol fulfills the requirements for REACH polymer status or, e.g., if non-reactive cyclic esters contributing to FOG/VOC are formed.
